A legacy, a statement of elegance and excellence, a cultural symbol: Founded in 1966, B&B Italia is the brainchild of visionary Piero Ambrogio Busnelli who aimed to forge a new culture of Italian design. Dedicated to the production of design furniture since its inception, B&B Italia insightfully merges culture and comfort while redefining what is possible in the world of furniture design.
Collaborating with some of the last half century’s most prolific designers to produce a portfolio of more than 1,200 singular, original designs—some of which have gone on to become global icons, residing in permanent collections in museums around the world—B&B Italia is an inspiration to generations of designers to come. Altering the cultural landscape and pushing the boundaries of design, manufacturing and marketing in equal measure, B&B Italia remains at the forefront of Italian-made, contemporary design.
UP5_6 Armchair + Ottoman
by Gaetano Pesce
1969 Original Design – 2000 Reissue
A testament to Pesce’s imagination and innovation, the UP5_6 Armchair and Ottoman, part of the Up Series, are more than iconic design. With its ottoman attached by a cord to the armchair, Pesce aimed to evoke, metaphorically, the paradox of femininity. Using polyurethane, at the time a revolutionary material, he sculpted a curvaceous shape, evocative of a woman’s body. Organic yet whimsical and beyond its intellectual inception, the UP5_6 Armchair and Ottoman offer unparalleled comfort with its unique shape and ergonomic design while exuding luxury and sophistication.

Camaleonda by Mario Bellini
1970 Original Design – 2020 Reissue
Often imitated but only truly authentic when produced by B&B Italia, Camaleonda was designed by Mario Bellini in 1970. With its plush cushions and distinct form, the Camaleonda quickly became a hit when it was introduced and remains a beloved piece of furniture design today. Versatile and modular in conception, the sofa’s name, meaning “chameleon-like” in Italian, was inspired by its ability to change shape and configuration, easily adapting to interior spaces and lifestyles without constraint.
Reissued in 2020 maintaining the original aesthetics but updated to accommodate an eco-friendly construction, today’s Camaleonda is made with recycled and recyclable materials, making it an environmentally responsible choice for those who prioritize sustainability. With unmatched comfort and its imaginative structure, Camaleonda is an icon that embodies the values and aesthetics of Italian-made design, proving that style and sustainability can co-exist in harmony.
Le Bambole by
Mario Bellini
1972 Original Design – 2022 Revamp
A symbol of the revolutionary spirit of the 1970s, Mario Bellini’s Le Bambole debuted at the Salone del Mobile in 1972. With a risqué advertising campaign, shot by Oliviero Toscani, featuring the sofa alongside model Donna Jordan, muse to Andy Warhol, the images were quickly censored, but the sofa had already made its risk-taking, innovative mark on the industry—and would go on to receive the Compasso d’Oro in 1979.
While the sofa has seen slight adaptations in shape over the years, Le Bambole’s essence has remained the same. In 2022, the B&B Italia creation has been reimagined for a more sustainable era, using recycled materials to create the molded inner structure keeping the original plush roundness and playful informality, and making it even more comfortable.
