David Jones’ new season is all about inspiring Australians to explore the world again after two tumultuous years of lockdowns, border closures and feelings of isolation. So, it’s only fitting that its new gallery space is curated to transport customers on an adventure around the globe.

Overlooking Hyde Park and just above the shoe floor, the store has completely transformed its historical executive suites into an immersive exhibition space called the Wonderworld Gallery.

An expansive photography exhibition from Melbourne-based photographer Kate Ballis has kicked off in the new space, showcasing more than 10 years of her travel photography, capturing landscapes far and wide.

Wander the space to journey around the world through Kate’s incredible snaps of international destinations like Iceland, Patagonia, the Atacama Desert, Morocco, and Palm Springs, California.

There’s also a cute Souvenir Shop featuring dreamy travel gear from Rimowa, the Instagram-famous Assouline coffee table books that capture culture from some of the world’s hottest travel spots, and ceramics from Marloe Marloe.

Plus, take a seat at the airport-inspired bar filled with old-world charm that’s set to leave you feeling all kinds of nostalgia and wanderlust!

Kate Ballis’ works will be on show until April 25th, with a second showcase from travel photographer Stuart Cantor to follow.

You can shop the Wonderworld Edit of beauty, homewares and technology in store and online here, and explore the new season here.
