Understanding IKD’s Panoramic Design Platform
Imagine being able to preview your IKEA kitchen cabinet design before it’s completed. Wouldn’t that help before you make your IKEA product selection and the overall comfort level with your layout? We think so.
And we can make that happen with IKD’s Panoramic Design Platform; a 360° panoramic video that provides an immersive kitchen experience for IKEA customers. With IKD’s Panoramic Design Platform, we’ll create photorealistic renderings of your IKEA kitchen with your material selections and finishes including IKEA cabinets, appliances, flooring, countertop and backsplash. In case you’re wondering, yes, the program works readily with custom cabinet door styles from third-party manufacturers as well (just another reason why IKD has been recommended by The New York Times as a design resource for customers considering custom doors for their cabinets). So if you have your eyes set on cabinet fronts from Semihandmade, for instance, you’ll be able to review those designs as well.

This platform is very helpful for IKEA customers to better understand the steps and products required to make your IKEA kitchen a reality and avoid some common remodeling mistakes. It’s also a useful tool for you to share with the other design professionals (like your contractor and independent IKEA installer) so they can see the intended look of your design and its exact measurements. This will all make the installation process go much smoother!
More importantly, this panoramic rendering will not only give you a personalized, full-room 3-D view of your kitchen, but will give you another perspective — both figuratively and literally — to help you complete your IKEA kitchen.
Let’s take a look and see how it works!
Benefits To Your IKEA Kitchen
The main advantage of IKD’s Panoramic Design Platform is it allows an IKEA customer to better envision their kitchen’s style and workflow.
IKD designer Florence explains: “With the 360° panoramic views we have much more detailed images to provide for our customers. We can look at a surrounding environment of the customer’s kitchen project and can show the client textures, spaces, etc. It helps the client to get a better idea of their space in a more realistic way and with greater detail,” she says.

That said, picture being able to digitally inspect every nook and cranny of your kitchen in hopes of maximizing storage space. Perhaps you want to see how specific IKEA cabinets, like IKEA BODBYN look in your modern-style design; or where to find additional space; or perhaps you’re indecisive about your appliance choices, or whether you want a center island. These are all legitimate considerations and 360° panoramic views offer the opportunity to review these issues so you know exactly what to expect: No design surprises!
How It’s Done
The IKD team of certified designers works on the IKEA kitchen design using 2020 software — and once the design is approved by the client — will make 360° panoramic views for the customer to review.
To create the panoramic views, our designers use a rendering tool and base the renderings on both inspiration photos and real photos of the current kitchen, which again are provided by the customer. “That’s where we get the colors, textures and decorative elements from,” Florence explains. “We try to represent the kitchen in a more realistic way and customer photos and videos play an important role in creating a 360° panoramic view.”

(Pro Tip: Create a design checklist of must-have products and design elements for your IKEA kitchen before you get started. This makes product decisions much easier as well and helps our designers better understand your design vision.)
Once the 360° renderings are complete, IKD sends the client a separate file that includes high-quality renderings and a link (to view the 360° panoramic view). So, the client or the contractor will be able to view the design rendering from any device. This is crucial, Florence notes, because typically it’s much more difficult for a customer to visualize their finished IKEA kitchen using a static view or viewing a professional design elevation. “Now, the customer will get a greater clarity of their space and it can also be used as a guide for the installer,” she concludes.
As you can see, IKD’s Panoramic Design Platform is a very useful design tool not only for your IKEA kitchen, but really for your peace of mind. After all, you’ll certainly want to know what your finished kitchen looks like before proceeding, right? This program allows that to happen. Plus, your contractor and installer (https://inspiredkitchendesign.com/ikea-cabinet-installation-costs-part-1/) will greatly appreciate receiving accurate measurements and a digital reference with which to build out your IKEA kitchen.
