Seasoned renovator Cherie Barber has acquired one of Sydney’s smallest apartments but she has big plans!
Located in the prestigious inner-city suburb of Balmain and just metres from harbourside parks and ferry, she bought an 18 square metre studio apartment for just $260,000; a testament to her keen eye for potential, even in the most compact of spaces.
Nestled in one of Sydney’s most desirable harbourside locations, the studio is one of 10 in the historic Star Hotel building. It’s so small it has no separate bedroom, just a mezzanine style loft bed. While it’s teeny tiny, as Sydney property prices go it’s a steal, when you consider its prime location.
It’s now set to undergo a complete transformation in just five days. Known for her ability to add value through smart renovations, Barber’s latest project aims to inspire many on space utilisation and interior efficiency.
“With housing affordability a national crisis, and interest rates increasing, tiny home living offers people an easier pathway to a debt-free lifestyle,” she says. “Socially, there’s a growing movement towards minimalism and simplifying life, with people seeking to declutter their lives and reduce their footprint. I’m excited to share my latest project with others so they can do just that.”
As a TV renovator for almost two decades, Cherie has a proven track record of turning the ordinary into the extraordinary on everyday budgets. In this latest venture, she plans to renovate and film the entire transformation in early April 2024, sharing the footage on her popular social media accounts and to her Renovating For Profit national community.
She’s personally renovated more than 175 properties, transacted more than $75 million in property and trained over 20,000 students who now replicate her proven process. She’s appeared on every Australian TV network and America’s HGTV Network and is currently the co-host of Channel 9’s Space Invaders.
