Australian luxury cow hide rug brand Art Hide has collaborated with New York interior designer Sasha Bikoff to launch a collection of eye-catching rugs.
With inspiration drawn from nature, music and a bohemian lifestyle, the collection features six groovy designs that have been brought to life with Art Hide’s ethically sourced premium hide, a specially dipped colour palette and stitchless technology.
Sasha says the artistry in Art Hide’s manufacturing encouraged the collection’s exploration of pattern patching and experimental colour arrangements. “My mind started to drift to quilts and patchwork. Not your granny’s patchwork but fashion-driven patterns inspired by 90s Dolce & Gabbana and the 70s hippie era.”
Known for her maximalist designs, the patterns are modern, bold and colourful, Sasha says.
Keeping with the 1970s aesthetic, Mariposa (above) and Funghi (below) feature whimsical bohemian imagery of bright butterflies and psychedelic mushrooms. Other pieces in the collection such as Shibori, spotlight a 70s colour palette through Art Hide’s in-house dyeing process.
The collaboration marks the first time Art Hide has partnered with an outside designer. “We wanted to work with someone who shared our passion for creating unique, statement-making pieces,” says founder Kura Perkins. “Sasha’s eye for colour and pattern made her the perfect fit.”
As well as the maximalist-inspired rugs, two vintage-inspired wall tapestries and cushions complete the collection, which is available via Art Hide’s website and 1stDibs.
